For me the trick to coming up with unique designs is to look for inspiration outside of woodworking. I drive past a beautiful cement bench everyday and want to use that to influence a step stool that'll fit into our living room decor. Inspiration in my woodworking can come from anywhere and I try to always be open to visually taking in shapes and angles I can use in my work.
