TEFC motors will be the standard I think moving forward in the next few years for both VS and any single-speed pump. I really like the quiet operation of these pumps and you can really hear a difference when one is running versus the old versions. I also love the top-mounted wiring. If you have ever replaced a motor, you know what a pain it is getting to the wires on the back. Especially if you are in California where everything is up against a house or a wall. The top wiring configuration is great!

It really comes down to the fact that TEFC motors will last longer and are ideal for all swimming pool and spa applications.
