This £1549 Gaming PC Surprised Me – Onyx Pro Review

A few years ago, if you were building a high-performance gaming PC, the go to spec for a lot of gamers was Intel for the CPU and Nvidia for the GPU. Fast forward to 2025, and AMD has shaken things up dramatically. Ryzen CPUs and Radeon graphics cards have become genuinely competitive — often leading in value and efficiency. So the question is: how does the Intel + Nvidia combo hold up in 2025?

Today I’m taking a look at the Onyx Pro from PC Specialist, a prebuilt gaming desktop powered by the Intel Core i7-14700F and an Asus Prime RTX 5070 – to find out if the Intel and Nvidia combo can deliver solid performance in the mid range.
